How pain lead me here

My health journey began in junior high. When I tried to dribble a basketball my fingers bent backward instead of cupping the ball. When I ran track my knees shut off in the middle of a sprint, leaving me dumbfounded on the ground. When I did sit-ups, I felt my back painfully shift and had to roll over to get off the floor.

By my twenties I couldn't vacuum my car without throwing out my back. Every time I reached for a doorknob there was a good chance I’d dislocate my wrist. My feet randomly rolled sideways to nearly a 90 degree angle. Soon enough I was wearing 2 ankle braces, 2 knee braces, and a back brace just to make it through the day.

After years of scans and tests that provided no answers, my doctor finally referred me to a specialist. 15 years after my issues began I finally got a diagnosis: Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I was over the moon. Finally, there was a term to describe and validate my pain.

Now that we know what the problem is we can fix it, right? This is an assumption we often make about our medical system. Unfortunately, like many conditions, EDS is incurable and can only be managed. All the recommendations from the specialist were things I was already doing, and they weren’t cutting it.

Finally, I decided to try acupuncture. I hate needles, so this was my last resort after religiously doing physio, massage, chiro, osteopathy, you name it, for years. I didn’t expect much, and it wasn’t until a friend asked me why I hadn’t been in pain for 2 weeks that I made the connection. I am blessed to say that, since discovering acupuncture, I haven’t needed any meds or braces, even while playing pickleball at the highest level in Canada.

Today I am honoured to help others experience better quality of life, thanks to the power of God and this beautiful ancient medicine He lead me to.

Education

2022-2025

Acupuncture Diploma
Acupuncture College of Manitoba

I learned everything from the foundations of Chinese Medicine to dietary therapy, tuina, fire cupping, anatomy, physiology, acupuncture theory & treatment, medical terminology, and more. I worked alongside Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors who worked in modern Chinese hospitals.

2024-2025

Lingering Pathogens & Persistent Immune Dysfunction Certification
Net of Knowledge

This course prepared me for patients with peculiar health stories beginning with "I've never been well since ______." You may be familiar with Long Covid or Epstein-Barr ("mono"), for example. These are just a few of the many viruses that continuously wreak havoc in the body. Completely ridding the body of these pathogens is an art that is not familiar to many practitioners.

2010

High School Diploma (Honour Roll with Distinction)
Garden Valley Collegiate

As a high school student I maintained straight A's while working 50 hour weeks to save for our first home (married at 18). This is when I developed the self-discipline and work ethic that carries me forward in my career today.

Personal
Life

Linda Hiebert with her husband and baby boy

Wife, Mother, Athlete

Bryan and I got married when I was 18. We've been together for more than half of our lives, so we have a vast catalogue of inside jokes and memories together.

After 6 years of infertility we were blessed with a baby boy. He is now 2 and a half and walking/talking a mile a minute. He lights up our world and he has the most infectious smile.

Though family takes precedence over playing professional pickleball, I still play recreationally any chance I get. My dream is to one day play competitively alongside my son.
